About Sarah,

I believe every person has an innate capacity for resilience, adaptation, and growth.

Even when life has been overwhelming, traumatic, or exhausting, the body holds an extraordinary intelligence. Long before we consciously understand what is happening, our bodies and nervous systems are already responding—protecting, adapting, and helping us survive. Many of the patterns we struggle with today were once wise responses to the circumstances we lived through.

As a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor (RTC) specializing in Relational Somatic Therapy (RST), I offer an integrative approach that supports both the mind and the body. I also integrate therapeutic sound to support nervous system regulation, deepen interoceptive awareness, and help people reconnect with themselves in a gentle, meaningful way.

At the heart of my work is the belief that the body is a living archive of our lived, felt experiences. Together, we explore not only your story, but how those experiences may be reflected within your body and nervous system. Through relational somatic therapy, nervous system education, mindful awareness, and therapeutic sound, we cultivate greater capacity, resilience, and choice—supporting your ability to respond from the present moment rather than from old survival patterns.

I've never believed people need fixing. More often, they need the opportunity to slow down enough to reconnect with the wisdom of what their body and nervous system have been communicating all along.

Before becoming a therapist, I spent more than twenty-five years as a professional musician. Today, that understanding of rhythm and resonance is woven together with relational somatic therapy and evidence-informed nervous system education through The Resonance Method™.

Alongside my counselling practice, I facilitate workshops, retreats, and educational experiences for healthcare professionals, educators, organizations, leadership teams, and community groups. Whether I'm working with an individual or a team, my intention remains the same: to help people better understand the relationship between the body, the nervous system, and the conditions that support lasting change.

It is a privilege to walk alongside people as they reconnect with their resilience, discover the wisdom already within them, and cultivate a deeper sense of presence, vitality, connection, and wholeness

The Resonance Method™

Understand your patterns. Recognize your needs. Create more room for choice.

The Resonance Method™ brings together relational somatic therapy, nervous system education, mindful awareness, and sound therapy to help you understand your responses and deepen your connection with yourself. Developed by Sarah McGlynn, the approach offers opportunities to explore how stress, protective patterns, and relationships shape what you feel, how you respond, and the capacity you have available to you.

Through accessible education and guided somatic exploration, you practise noticing the body’s signals: tension, changes in breathing, impulses to move, or moments of ease. This develops somatic literacy, the ability to recognize and make sense of your bodily experience. Interoception, your sense of what is happening inside your body, is part of this learning. Live sound, rhythm, voice, and vibration are woven together with practices such as gentle movement, breath awareness, guided imagery, and reflection. Sound can offer an anchor for attention, while responsive presence and careful pacing create opportunities to explore how support feels in real time. Each session allows room to participate, adapt, pause, or simply notice. Your responses guide the pace. Time for reflection and integration helps you connect what you experience with everyday situations, including recognizing a limit, expressing a need, or noticing when you have room to say yes.

The intention is to support greater capacity: staying connected to yourself through changing emotions, demands, and relationships, with more awareness and choice.

Relational Somatic Therapy

We cannot change the past, but we can change how the body is holding it.

Relational Somatic Therapy (RST) is a body-centered, trauma-informed approach that recognizes the body as the archive of our lived experience. Stress, overwhelm, and trauma are often stored in patterns of tension, sensation,  reactivity and response.

In sessions, we slow down and gently bring awareness to these patterns through interoception — the capacity to notice the body’s internal signals. With curiosity and compassion, clients begin to connect past experiences with present-moment awareness, allowing the nervous system to reorganize and come into greater coherence.

Rather than “fixing” what hurts, this work creates the internal conditions for reconnection and resilience. Over time, clients develop language for their body’s experience and a felt sense of safety that supports integration and regulation.

Relational Somatic Therapy can support those navigating:

  • Anxiety and overwhelm

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Depression and disconnection

Sound Therapy & Relational Somatic Therapy

My personal approach and practice is to harness the profound nervous system regulating capabilities of sound therapy to seamlessly integrate with relational somatic therapy (RST). This innovative approach of blending these two therapeutic modalities allows us to effectively move through blockages in the body, facilitating emotional and physical release and integration. Through the marriage of sound and somatic tools, I facilitate a holistic experience that nurtures both the mind and the body fostering a deeper sense of internal awareness and connection.

The Role of Entrainment in Sound and Somatic Sessions

One of the key principles behind sound therapy is the concept of entrainment. This phenomenon occurs when two systems synchronize their rhythms, enabling the body and mind to align with the frequencies and rhythms produced by the instruments during the session. As you listen to specific sound patterns, your brainwaves may shift, promoting relaxation and enhancing your overall state of consciousness.

Entrainment offers significant somatic therapy benefits for the nervous system. By synchronizing with calming sound frequencies, your body can transition from a state of tension and stress to one of reset, relaxation, and balance. This process helps regulate the autonomic nervous system, allowing the parasympathetic (rest and digest) system to take over. As a result, you may experience reduced anxiety, improved emotional regulation, and a greater sense of inner peace. Ultimately, this alignment can lead to enhanced resilience against stress and a more profound connection to your body’s natural rhythms.

During our individual and duo (couples) sound immersions, I create a personalized soundscape that resonates with your unique needs. Utilizing a combination of auditory looping, frequency-emitting instruments, and my voice, I aim to cultivate an environment that promotes tranquillity and supports your nervous system. This immersive experience encourages deep listening and body awareness, allowing you to reconnect with yourself and your innate coherent wellness within your own physiology on a profound level.

Before a somatic sound session, we will engage in a collaborative discussion to identify the specific focus of your immersion. Whether it's stress relief, enhancing body awareness, or being with different emotional states, I will begin to understand your intention and it will allow us to create a more impactful experience. During the session, you may also be introduced to visualization techniques or breathwork practices, empowering you to integrate these tools into your daily life for ongoing benefits.

What to Expect

Enhancing Connections in Couples Sessions

It’s important to note that the term "couple" encompasses all relationship forms, not just romantic partnerships. This inclusivity creates a welcoming environment for friends, family members, or any two individuals seeking to strengthen their connection or wanting to try a new experience.

Sound therapy for couples is a powerful way to foster relaxation, emotional connection, and explore a new way of being in relation with the other. Through shared auditory experiences, duos can deepen their bond, enhance communication, and have a relaxing nervous system reset. I create a space where both individuals feel seen and heard. This approach encourages a sense of harmony, allowing couples to relax into each other and experience a deeper level of connection.
